Welcome to CAD'05, the 2005 International CAD Conference and Exhibition to be held in the "great city of angels; the repository of divine gems; the great land unconquerable; the grand and prominent realm; the royal and delightful capital full of nine noble gems; the highest royal dwelling and grand palace; the divine shelter and living place of reincarnated spirits" or commonly known as Bangkok. The conference is aimed at CAD reserchers, educators, developers, vendors, and the business community dealing with CAD technology and its financial issues. The exhibition is open to all CAD businesses including software houses, hardware manufacturers, vendors, e-businesses, educators, publishers and sectors from various governmental agencies. To cater to a broad audience, CAD'05 has a poster session, tutorial presentations, parallel paper sessions, product demonstrations, and several forms of exhibits. An extensive social program makes the event fun for all, a techno-vacation for the entire family.
Papers are invited in the following emerging areas:
Bio-CAD: the use of CAD technology in biology and medicine;
Soft-CAD: CAD in the jewelry and handicraft industries;
Product lifecycle management;
CAD in the garment and fashion industry;
CAD in the arts and creative media;
Evolutionary and genetic algorithms in CAD;
CAD and the internet: web enabled design;
Design theory: the theoretical foundations of CAD;
CAD education: the design of curricula and educational materials;
CAD engines: hardware acceleration to speed up CAD processes; and
Human factors in CAD.
The traditional topics considered are as follows:
Geometric, solid and heterogeneous modeling;
CAD data bases, data exchange and standards;
Virtual reality in CAD;
Applications of computational geometry;
Collaborative, conceptual and feature based design;
Numerical control;
Design computing, AI in design;
Geometric and engineering tolerances;
