This conference is dedicated to honor Professor Charles Chui on the occasion of his 65th birthday. Professor Chui has made fundamental contributions to the development of Applied and Computational Harmonic Analysis as well as many significant contributions in various areas of Approximation Theory and its applications. In particular, he pioneered in bringing splines to wavelets and wavelets to splines. These two mathematical specialties now interact in a most natural way due to his outstanding research effort. Many leading mathematicians in these and other related areas will participate to address the recent development and to exhibit the exciting future of these fascinated research areas.
The scientific program features both invited and contributed lectures. In particular, the list of invited speakers includes:
Ron Chen, Raphy Coifman, Ingrid Daubechies, David Donoho, Rongqing Jia, Tom Lyche, Charles Micchelli, Zuowei Shen, Joachim Stoeckler, Larry Schumaker, and Jianzhong Wang.
The social events include the reception party at 7 pm on Monday, May 16, and conference banquet at 7 pm on Tuesday, May 17.
The conference registration fee of $180 (for on-line pre-registration before May 1, 2005) or $220 (for registration at the conference site) covers the expenses of an edited volume based on the invited and contributed lectures (to be sent to the registered participants), the conference banquet, and all coffee/tea/snack breaks. Partial reimbursement will be available for those in need of financial support, particularly for graduate students and young professionals (see a detailed info. at the registration section). Application forms for support request will be available at the registration desk.
The conference will take place in the Student Learning Center which is located on the campus of the University of Georgia.
